That’s me in the middle
Normal for Somerset.
Sculptor and scribbler living on top of a hill. Was offered a place at Winchester School of Art after O’ Levels but instead went to read Philosophy at university: BA Hons III class.
Took up life drawing again in 2007 – hardly missed a week since; as it’s mostly about line and form, the transition to sculpture in 2014 was a logical step. First working in stone and now bronze.
If I have an ‘Artist’s Statement’ it’s something to do with translating the ephemeral experience of the life room, finding form, and giving authority, creating something permanent and three dimensional. I recently read that ‘when a craftsman makes a piece that is perfect, Spirits will go and live in it’.
